The most striking feature of the zebra is the unmistakable stripe drawing. The Plains Zebra (Equus quagga) is the most common type of zebras in Africa. Like donkeys and other horse like species, they belong to the group of odd-toed ungulate – they carry their entire weight on the middle toes. Its striped pattern is used to camouflage and regulate body temperature. There is a temperature difference of up to 20 degrees Celsius in between the individual stripes.
